Frequently Asked Questions
1. Which device should I use to run OCS-Plus?
If the device can access and download the app from the appstore or google play store, it will run the OCS-Plus, allowing you to explore the app on your phone (note every licence comes with 4 different device activations linked to the same account).
However, when it comes to assessing participants, you should only be using tablet devices to assess respondents, as the stimuli and tasks will become too small. We recommend a minimum tablet size of 7.5 inches. We also recommended the use of a pen or stylus to facilitate responses from the respondent.
2. How do I save the visual snapshot report to my local device ?
In order to save the report as an image, which you can then upload/email/print as you require, simply take a screenshot.
How you take a screenshot will depend on your device. If you are not familiar with taking screenshots on your tablet, here are some handy links with instructions for : Ipad and Samsung Android tablets. You can search for other device specific information online.
3. What if I have not received my license?
If you have not received your license via email between 3 business days after your request, there may be an issue with the details provided to us via the licensing form. Typically, issues arise with incorrect email addresses or where your email blocks external contacts sending mail to your address etc. Please send us an email on ocsplus@psy.ox.ac.uk to enquire about your license.
4. How do I score the Figure Copy task?
There is an automated scoring programme for scoring the OCS-Plus figure copy task, however, this is not currently integrated into the apple or android apps. Therefore, we have provided a manual and scoring framework to help score the task if you wish. The manual is available Here.
5. My license code says it is invalid when activating the app
This is usually caused by inputting the license code into the incorrect app. We allocate separate license codes for each of our applications, as such as license code is only valid on the app for which a license code was generated. For instance, a license code for use with the OxMET would not be valid for use on the OCS-Plus app.
6. Can I view the user guide outside of the app?
You can download the English language user guide for the OCS-Plus by clicking here.
7. Is the OCS-Plus safe / has been risk assessed to use in NHS settings?
We have the following information regarding suitability for use in NHS or health settings
- In the standard version, no data is being uploaded to the app, all data stays on the device (up to 8 participants), then needs manual removing. Any data shared is chosen by the user, thus can be manually entered into clinical systems if required.
- OCS-Plus is not designated as a clinical tool, as it is in the research stage, so we have made it available as a research tool and for clinical service-related projects and activities.
- It is down to the user as to whether it replaces current tools and how to track who has completed this assessment
- There is no integration into any of the hospital EPR systems
- The OCS-Plus is registered on the Google Play Store and App Store in and outside of the EU
- Code and software for the tool has been reviewed internally by our team.
- No NHS, health, or personal data are stored or used in the app except age.
- No APIs are exposed or integrated.
- No third parties were involved in the development of the app and the collection of data.
- Vulnerabilities in the app’s software are notified to customers through updates
- Code is irregularly reviewed. Typically, annually.
